I am excited about my new BLOG / Website It is my intention to write here frequently so check back often. For now I will share a poem that I wrote last week.

The Bridge

One step at a time over the wise roots,
revealing themselves, letting me know,
they have weathered the years, stepped on daily
The sign says South Loop bridge removed for safety
Keep going or turn back?
for me the answer is to always keep going

The stillness of this place speaks to me
grounding, fully present, birds chirping their bliss
I cross where there is no bridge
Determined to keep going
On the other side I find a tree that serves as a chair

I stop and listen to nature’s breath
It feels safe here, peaceful and still
This same stillness lives inside me
Keep going the voice says
You are safe and you are loved
Make a difference in the world

Tears well up in my eyes, I close them
Focus on my breath and listen
A symphony of birds, ducks, geese and wind
My eyes open and everything is brighter
I exit the trail on the right track
